March Wrap Up

So March was not a fantastic reading month for me. Highlight is I started to really like audio! Low point is that I barely read compared to what I’m usually like. Too many long fantasy books.

Best books of the month:

Wild Country by Anne BishopHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. RowlingHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

I also did a lot of re-reads so I can catch up on my favorite series.

Skin Trade by Laurell K. HamiltonWritten in Red by Anne BishopCrimson Death by Laurell K. HamiltonFlirt by Laurell K. HamiltonScythe by Neal Shusterman

Lows of the month

Serpentine by Laurell K. Hamilton

This was just generally a horrible way for the series to end for me. I invested 15+ years in this series! 😡

Look ahead into April

So April I have both a small goal and a maximum goal of books.

My minimum goal is 8 books. 4 audio and 4 physical. Preferably ARCS.

My maximum goal is 60. 30 audio and 30 physical. Mostly ARCS.

I have gotten quite a few audios since my last post. I will post some of the newer ones here.

I have almost all the Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) now.

I also have all the Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1) in including Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) and King of Scars (Nikolai Duology, #1)

I am also going to try my first adult audio! Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1)Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1). I tried to find one I had read before that wasn’t too sexy. Didn’t know if I would like to listen to sex scenes.

I also completed buying The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1)

and the first book of the spin off Flamecaster (The Shattered Realms, #1)

I also have the Blood Rose Rebellion (Blood Rose Rebellion, #1) series

Also the Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) series

and finally the Storm Glass (Glass, #1) series.

I have a few pre orders as well

Wicked Saints (Something Dark and Holy, #1)The Devouring Gray

April Challenge

I am doing a challenge with some friends Goodreads. We are all going to try to listen to as much audio as possible to see if it increases how much we are able to read. Right now I average 8-12 books a month. I’m hoping to increase that to 15 or maybe even 20!

Plus with a puppy coming audio will be a lot easier while taking care of her!

We don’t really have any rules. I guess just listen to audio? lol.

The books I’m hoping to read I’ll post soon. I have a lot. lol.

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)Siege and Storm (The Grisha, #2)Ruin and Rising (The Grisha, #3)Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)King of Scars (Nikolai Duology, #1)

Flamecaster (The Shattered Realms, #1)ShadowcasterStormcaster (Shattered Realms, #3)Deathcaster

This post seems to be missing a lot. :/ I’ll have to jazz it up later. 😛

Audio haul and wishlist

So as I have stated in my previous post I am on a bit of an audio binge. So I have bought the entire Harry Potter series as well as the first two books from Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse and short audio called Dawn of Eden from Julie Kagawa.

Favorite book of the month if not the year so far

Wild Country (The Others, #7)

Wild Country

(The World of the Others #2)

In this powerful and exciting fantasy set in the world of the New York Times bestselling Others series, humans and the shape-shifting Others will see whether they can live side by side…without destroying one another.

There are ghost towns in the world—places where the humans were annihilated in retaliation for the slaughter of the shape-shifting Others.

One of those places is Bennett, a town at the northern end of the Elder Hills—a town surrounded by the wild country. Now efforts are being made to resettle Bennett as a community where humans and Others live and work together. A young female police officer has been hired as the deputy to a Wolfgard sheriff. A deadly type of Other wants to run a human-style saloon. And a couple with four foster children—one of whom is a blood prophet—hope to find acceptance.

But as they reopen the stores and the professional offices and start to make lives for themselves, the town of Bennett attracts the attention of other humans looking for profit. And the arrival of the Blackstone Clan, outlaws and gamblers all, will uncover secrets…or bury them.

REVIEW (NOT SPOILER FREE BUT I THINK MOSTLY MILD SPOILERS?)

This was amazing!!!!!!!!!! 4.5-4.9

I still prefer Meg and Simons ARC but this will now be my second favorite! Much better than Lake Silence!

I truly will continue to be baffled by how stupid humans are?!? Like really? How can you think you can take on the shifters and the sanguinati and the elders and elementals? So stupid 🤦🏻‍♀️

This book was a little confusing at times as there were a lot of POV changes. It was third person but there were a lot of MC’s to keep track of.

Things I liked.

The blended family. The two men and the blood prophet and the orphaned shifters.

Jesse and Toyla

Tobias and Jana

Barb

Virgil and Kane

Mel the Horse

The harvester Scythe

State of the ARC February and a look ahead to March

So again I didn’t do well. I think I only read one ARC? 🤦‍♀️

I’m going to really try again in March. But who knows. I’m in two constrictive challenges so it will depend on what I can read.

meta-chart (1)

Netgalley is still my biggest clog. I REALLY need to start reading some of their books.

Here is my goal for next month.

It’s a lot but I have faith in myself! 🙂

Late Edelweiss Review! Oops

First I need to apologize to both Edelweiss and Sourcebook Fire for this late review. Life has been a bit hectic. I will strive to do better in the future.

REVIEW

I would like to thank Edelweiss and Sourcebooks Fire for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5-49. stars.

This book was amazing! I am obviously feeling stingy this year as really this should be a 5 star but for some reason, I can’t click that last star.

I really loved this story. Hannah was, for the most part, a very relatable character. She had me guessing from the beginning what was happening and eventually what was wrong with her.

I felt so bad for Hannah. Her parents are obviously not good parents. Probably a lot of people would see them as good parents because they took care of her financially but obviously, they lacked in a lot of other areas. 😦

I wasn’t keen on the doctor at first. ‘Lightfoot’. She seemed uninterested and not caring. But she grew on me.
